Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

I was recently upgraded to a V3 hub and ever since I lose broadband between midnight and 1am. It's not a WiFi issue. I set up a BQM which confirms this. Other than that, no problems, get a good 200MBs

Levels as below. Any advice welcomed 🙂

Logs do show errors (ignore the ones in the day, having some electrical work done!):

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

Your upstream channels are out of spec:

Upstream bonded channelsChannel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

1326000005.2512016 qam7
2462000004.95512016 qam5
3394000004.975512016 qam6

  • Power levels too high
  • One channel missing
  • Modulation should be 64 qam.

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

Thanks - I do have a booster where the cable enters my house - maybe I should disconnect it. To be honest I think the engineer was clutching at straws when he put it in a few yrs ago....

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

You need an engineer visit to investigate the issues with your upstream channels.

OK, I'll give them a call.

Out of curiosity, why does it happen about midnight?

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

To provide the proof to VM and if you haven’t already, set up a free “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” when you have the first 24h period.

Yeah, have done that (pic in original post.and does it every night). It's not a wifi problem as it happens on my wired desktop pc.

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

There is no pic in post 1. If you left the i.p. address in it the Mods will have rejected it. The TB website tells you how to link to a "redacted" version to share.

Re: Another 'I keep losing broadband at midnight' problem

Well that was fun!

45 mins on hold and explained the problem. The agent kept asking me about WiFi. I explained it wasn't anything to do with WiFi. So it was then a conversation about the n/w cable between hub and PC.... She just couldn't understand that the problem was between the hub and the outside world so I hung up.

How do I get to speak to someone with a bit more understanding who isn't relying on a script?
