Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Have a new motorolla e7 android phone. It connects to WiFi then drops the connection within a second or two. Using a super hub and 2G connection.

Have switched phone and off. Switched router on and off. Reset the router. Turned WiFi on and off. Reset the phones network connections etc etc all to no avail. Any suggestions please ??

Re: Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Hiya,

Have you split out the 2 channels in the hub to the 2.4 and 5G bands?

Re: Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Strangely it will just about connect to the 2G extension / repeater but not to the 2G direct from the hub !!! Sons android phone has the same issue but apple devices are ok

Re: Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Are you using a super hub 1 in router mode?

You could get a better wireless router with 1Gb ports and use the hub in modem mode.

Re: Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Hi ColmSweet,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums. It's great having you on board with us in the Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having an issue connecting to the WiFi on your device. I know that lotharmat mentioned this above but your reply was unclear on whether you did this. If not, it's worth doing. Follow these steps:

•    Access your Hub by navigating to 192.168.0.1
•    Login with the default login info (on base of Hub) unless you've already updated it.
•    Go to Advanced Settings > Wireless > Security
•    Under Wireless Frequency 2.4GHz change the Wifi Network Name (SSID) and the Wifi password (network key).
•    Repeat for the Wireless Frequency 5GHz and click on Apply changes.*
*    Make sure that both frequencies are named differently and are still identifiable

Forget the WiFi network on your phone and then reboot the phone. Once it's back on try reconnecting to the newly named 2.4Ghz band and let us know how that goes 🙂

Thanks,

Kath_F

Re: Android phone will not hold WiFi connection

Thanks for coming back and confirming that for me.

You've mentioned in one of your posts an extension/repeater. If you remove that from the equation, and reboot the Hub, does it then give you the option to connect directly to the Hub?

Do you have this issue with an other devices in the house or is it only the Android device? Can you make sure the Android device is running the latest software available.

Since separating the networks, have you forgotten the WiFi networks on the phone and re-joined them? If not give that a go too.

Keep us posted with how you get on.
