Advanced Error Search Issue

Hi all, 

I am on my work VPN using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to pull down a list from a SharePoint site.  When I test the connection to SharePoint I get the following error:

Test connection failed -> For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the DtdProcessing property on XmlReaderSettings to Parse and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method.

Searching on the internet I have seen that this issue is not unheard of and is normally resolved by simply switching off "Advanced Network Error Search" on Virgin. 

I have tried this and restarted the router but it had no effect.  Further reading suggested I switch it on and then off again, restarting the router both times, but again this has had no effect.

I have also spoken the the technical team at Virgin.  Even though I mentioned advanced error search and the actual error he said he checked and nothing was being blocked on my VPN, showing that he did not understand the issue at all.  I asked to speak to someone else and he just said there was no one else to speak to and they were the only technical team and could see no blocking, so basically I was wrong.

As a side note I did, with SSIS open on the error, switch to my mobile connection on EE.  On doing this and reconnecting the VPN the test connection worked.  I did point this out to the "lovely" man on the phone but to no avail.

Considering the totally unacceptable response I had from Virgin themselves I am hoping someone can help me here with this.

you can work around the issue by changing the dns servers on your machine to google or cloudflare dns.. (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1)
