Adding ethernet switch

Hi, first time post.

I'm currently in the process of making part of my garage into a home office, the garage it not attached to the house and I need to get a reliable internet connection into the garage.  I have superhub 3 and I'm wondering what the best solution is?  I'm thinking of taking a ethernet cable from my router to the garage (25m run of cable) and then adding a 8 port network switch and a wireless router.

Thanks in advance for the help👍

The cables are a decent brand and cat 8 thickness for weather proofing in a protective casing.
You can probably save a few pounds buying a cheaper router ive just listed the cheapest AX wifi 6 asus brand.

you have that option or trying the latest mesh system

Thanks for that, I assume I would need to put my hub into modem mode and use the new router?

You dont need a wifi router per se... a wireless access point would be good enough... and one with 4 ports would mean you wont need the switch (if 3 extra ports is enough) Below is an example.

But if you already have a wifi router to use - make sure you put it into "Bridge" or "Access Point" mode as you dont want 2 devices doing the routing on one connection - issues will arise.

Cat8 cable is probably overkill, Cat6e/7 will be fine - just make sure it has the extra "shielding" from crosstalk and interference.

modem mode not needed if your only wanting to put the router in ap mode.

test it and if the hub starts throwing a wobbly then start thinking about a better third party router to sit next to the hub.

Ghen44 is reporting no wifi issues from the Hub - all they require is reliable internet in the garage.

You and I have provided good options for that.

hi just had a question, if i bought this netgear wireless access point and set it it with my hub, could i still use all the LAN ports on the hub and the the access point box at same time ? and the access point box would assign IP address to the LAN ports being used
