Access to my corporate VPN denied again

Hi,

I posted a question at the start of the first lockdown in the UK regarding my access to our corporate VPN. I used this to access our factory network, where all our databases and customer support info is stored, and it seemed that having been using the vpn access, via the same laptop, via the same virginmedia hardware (Hub3) it stopped allowing me access.

Using a lan connection or mobile hotspot did the trick, so I went for it, turned the HIB3 into a access device and linked a eero system to it for the wifi, much better coverage, adn all was well with the world, remote working was possible again.

But damn me if at the start of this second lockdown my VPN is blocked again.

Current tests show that while my mobile hotspot allows mw access, virgin are sending me on a trip around the net ending up in a black hole. Thanks virgin, for making it such a difficulty in working from home.

Virgin support, any advice.

Re: Access to my corporate VPN denied again

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

Hub 2 & 3 When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Hub 4 When the page appears LOG IN then click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow / straw box warning click the Post button again. Use one post for each tab if you wish.

Please do not use screen grabs.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: Access to my corporate VPN denied again

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Check if your IP has been blocked from accessing the VPN

Re: Access to my corporate VPN denied again

Get the IP of the VPN endpoint.
Can you ping it and run a tracert to it?

Re: Access to my corporate VPN denied again

Hi Gary,
Interestingly both via lan and mobile I can not ping the vpn address and get a reply, but it does get found when i run a tracert to it.
Still able to connect via mobile hotspot and still unable to link via my virgin connection, either by wifi or lan connection to the modem.
Last time it simply the wifi section of the hub 3 causing me issues, hence putting it into modem mode and using a eero system, and getting a huge coverage boost at the same time.
