5G dropping to 2g

Hello my 5G keeps dropping off all the time down to 2g

anything that is hard wired is fine no problems

I have to reset the box all the time I’ve made a complaint about it but all I get back is you may have to many things connected to it etc etc

can I change the hub to another brand the hub which is years old.

I have asked for a new one and told I would have to upgrade my package to get a new one !

can someone help please

thanks John

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

If the basic router Virgin provide isn't good enough for your needs you can purchase your own more expensive router from the likes of Amazon and use that

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

It may be worth splitting your 2 and 5 G channels into 2 - give them different names!

Most WiFi equipment will try and find the strongest signal to latch on to - 2 G has much better range than 5G but is slower!

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

Thanks for replying

no the 5G stops working and disappears you can only find 2g to connect to with any device in the house

you have to reset the hub and then it will appear again this happens at least once a day

Ooooh! Apologies - I misunderstood your post!

Definitely sounds like a router problem!

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

Sounds like you may have the old hub 2, I just re read your message and you should try and see if the hub 3 works better for you

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

Hi johnunleashed,

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear you've been having some issues with the connection.

I've been able to locate your account using your forum details, and the hub is within the specifications we would expect.

I would however like to advise that it may be beneficial to either disconnect some of the WiFi devices you currently have connected or to look at possible increasing your current broadband speeds.

If you do want to discuss the broadband package you can speak to us on 150/ 0345 454 1111 or text us on +44653 305 1809.

Re: 5G dropping to 2g

There are a lot of WiFi devices connected compared to the speeds you currently have.

You may benefit from either disconnecting some of the current devices or looking at increasing the speeds.

In regards to the dropouts are you able to set up a BQMBQM and let it run for at least 24 hours so we can monitor the dropouts?
