Cannot create an acceptable password even though it's

8 characters....

starts with a letter

contains a number

has 1 of the allowed special characters. 

 

Can anyone help please.

There have been reports that despite that message the new password has in fact been registered.

However an 8 character password is unlikely to be particularly strong.  VM passwords can now be up to 64 characters long.

Thankyou for the reply. Goodness knows which of a many variations i've tried it's gone with then. 

Virgin Media seems utterly hopeless. le sigh.

Sorry to hear of the password issues experienced, we understand the confusion this can cause and appreciate you raising this via the forums. Welcome to the community.

 

As Graham_A has mentioned, there has been some issue regarding settings passwords with an error message being given. Have you tried to log in using the password you selected and got the error message for?

Tried the last one i remember, but i'd cycled through a lot.

That didn't work, tried to see if the password could be reset.

"You can’t reset your password online right now, as you don’t have additional details set up on your account."

As I said i'm not convinced anythings worked. Am quite surprised at how many others have this issue.

Just to confirm, have you been able to access your account at all to reset this when logged in?

Never connected, was trying to set up the user. 

Got no further than the password error message. 

Virgin Media's online support suggested waiting 48hrs which isn't overly helpful.

 

Thanks for confirming, I would advise trying again. We have however been made aware of an issue with our website this evening though so, I would recommend trying this tomorrow then let us know how this goes.
