Hi Buxtonw, welcome to the community! Thank you for posting.

Sorry to hear you have been having some issues getting your My Virgin Media account registered and set up. There are a few different things which can cause the DEF01 issue when setting up a new online account:

1) You are still awaiting installation of your services. If you have never had services with us before, sometimes it takes until you are installed and active before you gain access to the online account. Please do be aware if you are awaiting installation we will need this to complete this before we can offer further support.

2) If the email address you are registering with is associated with a former account. We can fix this, we would need to send you a PM to confirm a few details and get the email address moved over to the new account. Please note an email address can only be linked to one My Virgin Media account. (You can also try using different email address to register.)

3) You are using a password which does not meet the requirements in order to register.

4) There is an unknown of error on the site we need to be aware of.

I will send you a PM to confirm a few account details and offer further support in case you are experiencing options 2 or 4. You can find the PM in the top right corner of the page in your inbox.

All the best.

Molly
