Trying to cancel Mobile account

Hello. Can anyone explain how I just cancel a Pay Monthly Sim Only contract. I have had it for a couple of years (at least I think). I don't want to transfer the number. I am not opening an account with anyone else. I just want to cancel.

There does not appear to be any way of doing this simple thing.

 

Can anyone help?

I have two Virgin SIMs in my one phone. The other Sim is an Oomph account. The Pay Monthly account I want to cancel I have used as a work contact only. Having just retired I don't need it anymore.

In any case, why can I not just cancel the Pay Monthly account?

You can by ringing 789. 

The team on here can't deal with disconnections

789 will work but might be less time on the phone to grab the STAC for the number you want close and then transfer it to a PAYG, do the transfer and cut up the PAYG SIM.

Then the family or executors can contact the bereavement team who will cancel the contract.

But calling customer services or using a STAC or PAC code is the way most networks handle normal disconnections.

Personally I don't see a problem. I've cancelled 2 contract SIM cards in the last 18  months

Have you been able to get the service disconnected since your post? Requesting a PAC/Stac is the the quickest way to get have the number and service cancelled without calling:  https://www.virginmedia.com/help/keep-my-number.

However if you do still need help let us know.

I have been busy over the weekend so not yet. I am aiming to phone Wednesday but thanks for enquiring. It's good of you. 

Regarding PAC/STAC - as I read it the code for either HAS to be passed onto another provider. If it isn't in the time allowed the service continues and payment is not cancelled. I don't want another provider - so that won't work.

Correct me if I am wrong please.
