SIM card not working

Hello there! 

I got my new SIM card (replacing a lost one) and it has been in the phone for 2 days now but still not activated. I turned the phone off a few times and took the SIM out and in again, but still not working and did not receive message from virgin. Can someone help me please. I need it to be working ASAP.
