Paying an archive bill of 8 years

  • I had a media account in 2012 and owe an amount that is constantly saying missed payments on my credit score.

I have the account number but it is only 8 digits with the letters FA before them.

I have been trying to set up a direct debit to pay it monthly, but unable to do so.

I cannot make payment over the phone as the customer service team won't accept the account number!

How can I pay this off so it clears from my record?

8 years I have been trying to pay this.... EIGHT YEARS!

Please help.

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

Hello

You will have call the dedicated Collections team on 0800 052 0360 from any phone. They are open Monday to Saturday, 8am until 6pm, except for Bank Holidays where they open from 8am ‘til 5pm. They are closed on Sundays.

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-missed-payment

Be aware that the report will stay on your credit report for 6 years but it will be marked as settled.

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

as far as i remember dropping the letters and adding a zero before the 8 digits you have used to work - but thats a long time ago so may have changed

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

Thanks for the message.

The dedicated number you mention I have called on numerous occasions and each time been told they can't accept my payment as the account is archived.

In the meantime, it still appears on my credit score as consistently unpaid causing my credit score to remain low.

I contacted the CEO in the past, yet still this has been an unresolved problem.

It STILL remains on my credit report as a default in payments, yet I can't pay it no matter how hard I try to!

  • I want to buy my home but this is impacting my credit score.

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

afaik paying it off will have little short term effect on your credit score - something you need to check i guess

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

yep. it will show as settled but remains on there. being settled 'helps', but it doesn't erase that the debt existed, unless of course the debt was through no fault of the op and is an error. then it would be noted as such.

Re: Paying an archive bill of 8 years

Each month virgin put up a missed payment. This has been going on for 8 years.

I want to pay it so it does say cleared and satisfied. But this is impossible without being able to pay the damn thing.

I just want someone to tell me how I can pay it!

Their phone service won't accept an archived payment.

I can't get a standing order set up as they don't acceot that form of payment.

I can't go into a virgin store to pay it because, again it's archived and not recognised on their system.

FTLOG I just want to pay it! LOL
