Delay in transferring number through PAC

Hi, 

Set up the Virgin sim card yesterday morning and gave Virgin the PAC code to keep my current number. Was told definitely today would be the day it goes through. It still hasn't and it's flagging up on the account as a delay and 'Don’t worry, our technical boffins are working to fix this.' But no definite date now when it'll be done. Today, tomorrow, Friday? Need it sorted ASAP!

I can't understand why if there is a delay why it doesn't say when it'll get done at all still says it should go through today but states delays and it really looks unlikely. I just hope someone can help resolve it as I don't want to be without my number I've had for years for much longer if possible.
