I had an account with Virgin Mobile in 2013, when it ran out (2016) Iconfirmed I was not renewing by telephone call and cancelled my DD.
Scroll forward to Sept 2016 and I received an unpaid bill notification.
The advisor had never noted my call and so I began a dispute by telephone and in writing.
The account is showing on my credit file as in default (from 2017) yet after many months of trying to resolve I am still awaiting an update to get this removed as is affecting my application for a mortgage.
