Cancelled sim

Hi, I ordered a sim not knowing I was still in a contract with my old supplier so phoned and cancelled sim contract with virgin, after being on hold for 29mins they cut me off when I said I wish to cancel. After another phone call I managed to speak to someone and he cancelled everything. The thing is they have took money out of my account by direct debit and sent me another bill saying they will take the money by dd again. The sim has never been used it's still in it's packaging. How can they do this? When everything has been cancelled.

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.


You have a 14 day cooling off period. If you go over this then you're liable for the contract charges up until the point it's cancelled. If the second bill amount is much less than the first bill amount then this means it was cancelled pro rata (in the middle of a billing cycle). If the second amount has come out of your account since posting then this will be the final payment you need to make.
