Why can’t I pay for my bill in parts anymore? Also…

Why have VM stopped it so I can’t pay my bills in parts anymore? Just whole? This helped me out a lot as I get very little money doing part time and care for my mum. I never have money to spend, just all goes on bills and I really struggle.

Also i have begged and begged with different people at VM to change my package but they all refuse, change the subject or say it’s cheaper how I have it. I pay £70 a month and all I want is the high speed broadband. I have the package of all 3 (Broadband, phone and TV), phone never even works so we never have it plugged in, same with the tv. I have told them this and that I want to get rid of the phone and TV but they ALWAYS tell me it’s cheaper as a package but when I ask how much it is for just my broadband they NEVER answer, every time they ignore I asked or change the subject. My older brother a few months back managed to get them to take the TV and phone off but I can’t? He also got it a lot cheaper too so they’re defo hiding it.

All I want is my broadband for me and me little brother as we game and nothing else. I don’t understand why I can’t have that and why it’s so expensive what I have now!?

I’ve been thinking of leaving virgin for a while but not sure where to go 😕

VM do operate a bundle-discount setup where the per-unit price often reduces with more services. Conversely, the fewer services you have increases the per-unit price. Landline telephony especially, attracts generous discounts that often more than cancel out the cost of it.

If you were to start a post in the TV section of this forum explaining the issues you're having, you could likely get some help with those - after all, you're paying for a service and any faults should be rectified - https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/TV/ct-p/tv

Hi @KellyAnne1

Welcome to the community forums

Sorry to hear of your concerns with your bills.

If you're out of contract then this could also be the reason for a higher monthly amount. Discounts are usually connected to a contract, you can check to see if you're in contract through your online account and also on all your monthly bills. In the breakdown, you can also see if you have any discounts and when they will expire.

You will usually get better discounts with the more services you have, which is why you might find having other services works out cheaper in some cases.

Whilst we aren't able to action any package change requests via the community forums, I recommend if you are unhappy with your current package deal, please do consider giving us a call on 0345 454 1111 / 150 or via WhatsApp on 07305 327 112 our team will be more than happy to perform a package review for you. They will ensure that you're on the best possible deal for your package.

You mention issues with your TV services, are you able to advise the issue you're experiencing?
Do you see any error codes at all on the service?

Here to help 🙂

I think you should dump VM when you can and get broadband from another ISP. If you want live TV there is Freeview (requires an aerial, an outside one will cost but it's a one-off). If you want apps there are streaming devices like Fire TV Stick and Roku.

Assuming the channels you view are FTA ones. If you want to view pay-TV channels, you may need an alternative solution.

I don't see Pay TV as necessary (unlike people like me) as the OP said all she wants is to play games.
