Virgin have put my bill up by 60%

As the title says, received my bill this morning and it had gone up by 60%, I rang them to ask about this and they say it’s due to inflation, the last time I checked inflation wasn’t running at 60%. Told them I want to cancel my package/account and of course they told me I’d have to pay £200+ to get it disconnected, how are they allowed to get away with this?

My question is, is there anything I can do about this or do I just have to suck it up until my contract ends?

If you are still in contract then yes, they can screw you over like this.  You can cancel at the end of your contract, giving 30 days' notice.   You might find that when you cancel they will offer you a better deal to renew, but then you are hooked again for another 18 months.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

A big increase is typically caused by the end of a discount.
