Verification - Banking Sort Code Details?

Beagle2
Tuning in

Does Virgin Media really need to ask for Bank Sort Code details in order to verify a person? Particularly when it is asked for a single chat/PM along with other personally identifiable information.

This would appear to go against the advice that consumers are routinely given.

There are plenty of ways to verify individuals, without asking for a portion of their banking details.

Hi Beagle2 👋🏼.

Thank you for posting and welcoming you with big virtual arms to our community forum 🤗.

We do ask that security question but we don't ask for further bank details.

We have multiple questions we have to ask in order to verify who we are talking to, the security questions are there to protect you as Data Protection.

If you click this 👉🏼 link, it will give you an insight of why we ask questions and what it is there for.

We take our security very seriously and do not pass if answers are incorrect as we can't identify whom we are talking to. I know it can be annoying at times but it is only there to protect you as our Virgin Media family.

Thank you.
