Received a call from 08001836411 on my personal mobile (not a Virgin account), stating that the call is from VM.
The call was atrocious, couldn't understand what he was saying and the reception was awful.
Don't know why VM would want to call me on a mobile number rather than the land line for which I am paying?
If this was a VM customer services call, can't you get someone who speaks clear English.

Hello acdeag
Sorry to hear of the recent call received and the confusion caused, we appreciate you taking the time raise this via the forums.
As you are already aware this call is a scam, we wouldn't contact you in this manner. We have some help here on how to deal with calls of this nature.

Hi,
Received a call from this number today, very heavily accented and barely decipherable English put me on the defensive straight away.
They obviously have access to some personal details as they knew how long we have been with Virgin, only interested in selling me a package (including BT Sports and documentaries neither of which hold any interest for us).
The price offered was way above what we pay now and when I said I would re-negotiate our contract when it expires in June at a better price they cut the call abruptly.
If it is genuinely Virgin they need better quality call centre staff with better language and pronunciation skills, more ability to negotiate and better quality lines.
If it was not Virgin how have they accessed contract details? or are they just guessing and hoping customers don't know how long they have been with Virgin and when their contract ends.
Worrying!

Hi DaveD4,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐
We're sorry to hear about your recent experience regarding a sales call. Usually I personally don't like confirming whether a number is a valid Virgin Media one due to the fact it's quite easy for scammers to spoof this but checking things this end, I can see it was a genuine call from us as the agent left notes at this end.
If you are opted in to marketing then the team may call you from time to time to see if there are any offers available to you.
If you'd rather not receive these calls, you can update your marketing preferences yourself by just signing in to My VM here. Click on Account settings > Marketing preferences > Edit my preferences. From here you can opt out and it will stop calls, emails and addressed marketing.
We also always take on board the feedback you give in your posts so will pass this over to the marketing teams.
If you have any further queries or questions, please just let us know. 👍
Thanks,
