Secondary account not working

My Virginmedia customer account information confirms there is a secondary email account registered (with virginmedia.com), but it is unable to receive mail. I have tried to send to it from a gmail account, but it is rejected.

In addition, I am not able to login to the secondary email account via webmail interface.

However, I am able to login to "My Virginmedia" using the established credentials.

Please advise. Thank you.

How long since the address was used?  What result do you get if you run the address through https://mailtester.com?

If valid, the Forum Team (VM employees) will be able to raise a ticket to investigate what is wrong with the mailbox.

If not valid, then it would appear to be closed (perhaps after 150 days of non-use) and AFAIK, can never be recreated.

The address is used by my wife as her primary AppleID. She has never used it for general email exchanges.

Mailtester states that the address does not exist on the server. I guess it was deleted because it wasn't being used.

If it can't be re-created, I guess I'll just have to change the address used by Apple as her primary ID.

Hi CDL. 

I can look at the possibility of getting this email reinstated if it has been terminated due to non use. You have also mentioned you are happy to use another email address, Let me know either way what you would like to do. I just need to let you know its not a given that we can reinstate it.

Am I able to post account details here or does that compromise GDPR?

Thanks for those details CDL, 

I have had a look and will need to get this logged with our IT Team

The only downside is it being Sunday it might not get picked up until tomorrow now 

The usual turnaround is 7-10 days maximum

As soon as I have a reply I will be back in touch on here
