Scam / hoax calls warning of broadband shutdown (Wed 13 May 2020)

Hi - I received a phone call this morning on my Virgin landline which I believe to have been a scam call.

An automated voice addressed me as "dear customer", and claimed that my broadband was likely to cut out in the next 40 minutes, due to a router fault, and to contact my service provider. There was a suggestion that they could put me through if I pressed option 1 on my phone keypad.

40 minutes has passed now and thus far, my broadband service is still on.

I am pretty certain this was a scam call, especially because no mention of which broadband provider I was signed up to. It seems there have been similar scams in the past too - (see this other thread from 2017; "Has Virgin been making calls re faults with Router or is this a phoney call  )

Does anyone know for sure whether the call I received was genuine or a scam?
