I have had the exact same issue as yourself only this week, keeping the Direct Debit open and then all of a sudden, a negative report on Experian and Equifax to say that there was a late payment, when it is of no fault of the consumer. 

Virgin Media really need to deal with this issue at their end but so far, have had no response from Virgin Media regarding removing the negative late payment from my credit file.

Sorry to hear of the issues with a late payment fee showing on your credit score and impacting it's status, although you had an active Direct Debit before you left us. 
We'd love to see how we could assist where possible.

Could you please advise if you've discussed this with our teams before and what we've advised has happened, if so?
Was this due to the payment via DD failing to go through or had you had any overdue bills before this was late fee was charged?
Also, have you received and paid your final bill from us on the date after your disconnection - just to confirm this?
