I wish to cancel my virgin acct but can’t get through to anyone to do this. If I don’t hear from you I will cancel all my direct debits to you in 5 working days.

Dont cancel your DD's otherwise there will be a knock on the door from the bailiffs and a black X on your credit file.  There may be an early disconnection penalty charge.

Cancel In writing (best way!) with 30 days notice period  to…

Include dates, name ,address and all account details. They say to also include your phone number so they can call you to confirm - probably to make you an offer to stay.\
Do it by registered mail next day delivery guaranteed and with a receipt for signature on arrival.

Follow the advice from jbrennand and cancel by sending a signed-for letter to give your 30 days notice. Don't cancel your DD.

While waiting for a VM forum team reply ...

You can share your unhappy cancellation experience with OFCOM.

They launched an investigation into VM on 13 July 2023 specifically into VM's cancellation and complaints processes.

Case ref. no. and an email at the bottom of the above page or submit with same info via the contact form

https://ofcomforms.secure.force.com/formentry/SitesFormCCTMonitoring

Submitting information won't help your individual complaint but it will contribute to the OFCOM investigation and it sounds like your experience is directly relevant to the terms of reference of the investigation.

Hi @Davidc3

Welcome back to our Community Forums and thanks for posting.

I am sorry to hear you are looking to leave us.

We're unable to process disconnections via the Forums but our team on 0345 454 1111 will most certainly be able to help. Appreciate you may have had issues getting through so I'd advise calling between 8am - 10am as call volumes are low at this time.

For other methods to cancel see here

Please don't cancel the direct debit as that could cause further impacts such as late payment fees and defaults on the credit file.

Thanks
