How to have a final bill removed from all areas of virgin

We cancelled virgin media services and then received a final bill which I disputed having given plenty of notice in writing and verbally. I was told the final amount had been removed from account. However then for the last 3 months received overdues and now a debt collector service has got involved.

I was told by customer services the account was clear and to ignore messages/cancel direct debit. However as this has now gone to debt collectors would like it resolved. I don't know who to contact as customer services have told me they can't help due to the account being closed.

Who should I speak to at virgin as this is very distressing as you can imagine
