Fuming over late payment charge

I have just received my bill and I am fuming. Not only have I been bombarded with sales calls which I have told them to take me off the list and email if they must, but now I have been whacked on a £7.50 late payment charge. This seems to have come about because I had to change bank account and therefore re set up the direct debit. I had confirmation that the DD was set up on 8th august and the payment was due to go out on 23rd August. At no time was I told that I would have to make a manual payment or that they wouldn't be taking this payment through direct debit. I am happy to pay 2 months on this month's direct debit but I am not paying for something that is not my fault.

What can I do to get this credited back?
