Email from Virgin (included confirmation of account info) but Virgin Helpdesk know nothing about it

I just had an email stating our broadband is out of contract (and correctly confirming the date that it expired, several years ago) offering a 25% discount on the same package if we renewed again for 18 months. Is this a known scam, as I can't see how a scam email generator would know our last contract expiry date (unless Virgin has been hacked).

Virgin's telephone helpdesk know nothing and suggested using online chat (still waiting to be connected to an agent).

The email is a total shambles - offering something that they didn't even know that they could offer - sadly for them they did.

We are aware of the issue with the email offer and our team are working to get this resolved as quickly as possible.

The phrase "as quickly as possible" in response to the question "who sent this email and how do we honour it" should be measured in hours, or at worst days. Not weeks.

Totally agree - this has shades of the 'we're working on it' replies over the email debacle we all suffered this month.... All we need is for someone at Virgin senior management to just authorise an offer that was sent out to by their own 'outbound' department be honoured... simple as that.
