Early termination fee

I’ve been charged an early termination fee.  I made amendments to my account a few months back and wasn’t advised it would start a new contract.  When I disconnected my service I only found out after the termination about the fee. £165 if I had known then I would have kept the service for another month and then only been out of pocket by £38.
What can I do to get this fee credited? I feel as if I’ve been conned.

Re: Early termination fee

'all changes to your package start a new minimum term'

any change in services rightly generations a new contract. after all, the previous contract would be in regards to different services and be null and void.

it is the same with bt and sky.

there is no conning going on - https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/the-legal-stuff/terms-and-conditions-for-fibre-optic-services#agree...
