Customer service

Can someone explain why it is so difficult to get a problem resolved, I have spent hours trying to sort out my bill, twice told it would be sorted out before my bill is taken out of my account only to find out today that it has not been sorted and the full amount has been taken dispite an email saying It had been sorted, the constant lies from Virgin is appalling.
