Cooling off period - upgrade

Tuning in

Good evening.

I joined Virgin and my services went live last Saturday. I chose the Bigger Bundle plus Sports. Since then I have decided I would like Ultimate Volt. I spoke with someone on the phone the other day that said I could do that but I would need to call back as I wasn't showing on their system yet.

I spoke on live chat yesterday and the agent said I could do that. They started the process off and signed me up to 02 and then informs me, after a while, that I would need an engineer to attend to plug a router in??? I then informed this wasn't good enough and that I wanted to to be posted out, just like if I was a new customer. I was then told again, this isn't possible tried charging me £40 for an engineer I did not need.

I told to cancel then. I am now left with an 02 sim contract I don't need due to this. I rang back today to speak with someone who agreed I can have it posted out but would need to sign up again but at a cost of £111 a month instead of £85. Can someone please enlighten me as to my rights here as I could technically cancel virgin and rejoin but doesn't seem worth the hassle when someone could just change me from Bigger + Sports to Ultimate Volt? To confirm, I am 4 days into a 14 day cooling off period.

Many Thanks.

What we have here is an example of someone running headlong into VM’s completely broken and dysfunctional backend systems. Now when you told them to cancel did you mean it, and did they action it - did you insist that they cancel? What we need to ascertain here is; are you or are you not still in a contract with VM on the original terms or possibly some oddball half and half setup where nobody actually knows what you are on or what you should be paying.

Personally, in your position, I’d just cancel the whole lot with VM and O2, as I fear that going forward this will turn out to be a disaster of Biblical proportions.
