Changing Direct Debit payee

So my partner has just moved in and has offered to pay the direct debit for the TV, broadband and phone. Will this be permitted? He has a Santander 123 account so will get cashback on the bills which is why he is being generous.

Some companies have been very simple, others more tricky and some like pulling teeth trying to get this achieved?

Any advice before I speak to customer services?

I want to say you can do it in the MyVirginMedia part of the site, it’s ringing a bell. As long as a bill isn’t due though.

Welcome to the forums and for your first post 🙂 


Our awesome Superuser @Shafreya is indeed correct - you can change your Direct Debit details within your online MyVirginMedia account as long as the balance is cleared. 


1. Register or sign in to My Virgin Media at

2. Click on the My Bills option.

3. Select the Overview tab

4. In the ‘Your Direct Debit' area, click Change Direct Debit


Alternatively, you can call our automated phone service on 150 from your Virgin Media phone or mobile, or 0345 454 1111* from any other phone and select option 1.
