My package just ended at the end of December, spoke with an agent on Thursday and said he would call back with and new updated package on Tuesday, will I get charged for the current package price whilst waiting for virgin to get back to me not due to my own fault, but rather waiting for them to contact me back.

Offshore VM do not call you back, it just way to end the call. Unfortunately you will have to phone in again as the VM staff on the board cannot make package changes.

Sorry to hear of the package issues experienced and the not receiving a call back, we understand the frustration and appreciate you raising this via the forums. Welcome to the community.
As Tudor has explained, we aren't able to make package changes via the forums, if you can give the team a call on 150 from a Virgin Media landline or 0345 454 1111 option 1, option 4 then option 4 this will get you through to the contracts team who will be able to look into this further for you.
