Broadband contract transfer - credit score impact?

Hi,

I have just moved into a flatshare where the internet contract has been created 2 years ago. I want to change the name on the internet contract (which was in the previous flatmate's name) to mine, but I have seen that he kept making late payments.

If I change the name on the contract to mine, will my credit score be affected by the past payment history (which was not in my name) because it is associated to that contract which will be then in my name?

Re: Broadband contract transfer - credit score impact?

Hi Optimal-poem,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.

For an account to be changed into someone else name it would be a TOR (Transfer of responsibility) it would be taken out of the ex account holders name and put to yours. In no way would a financial association be made to yourself because of that - as it's not just a name change that would take place. Information can be found through this link; here. Hope this helps 🙂

Cheers.
