Billed after account was supposed to be closed

Hello,

I recently moved home and closed my Virgin Media account on the 27th of July. I was told on the phone that the direct debit would automatically be closed and that my final bill would be 35 something.

I was billed £46 July 2nd(before I'd cancelled the contract, full cost for the month) and £35.67 August 19th, despite the fact that the service was interrupted July 27th and by this point I'd returned the equipment.

Also the £35.67 bill even shows as unpaid on the My Virgin Media account page.

I have now manually closed the Direct Debit. What I expect to happen is to get a refund of £46. Am I misunderstanding the situation?

I'm very sorry to hear there's been some concern regarding your last bill, I can appreciate you're keen to know what's going on. 

As we bill upfront there can be the chance that we bill you for services after the account has been closed, in this instance any over payments would be refunded within 35 days via cheque.
