That reply from the VM tech will have left you none the wiser. Not very helpful at all and if you follow his advice you would have put an unnecessary question to the live chat service that thy could well do without at this time of severe pressure caused by the virus emergency. So please don't do it. VM have said that the transition to an internet based phone service run through VM's Hub (as I understand it, it is not a true VOIP service but very close to one) will take place by 2025. Each customer will be notified as the roll out takes place in their area. Irrespective of which area you are in now all new VM landlines are provided in the new way. Hope that helps.

Not having had a reliable land line for over 2 years (old BT copper wire) and my partner and I being 74 and 85, I pestered for a VOIP adaptor as I had a new Hub 3. I at last have a reliable telephone connection without spending mega bucks waiting to speak to a call centre in India to arrange for a technician's appointment. I understand if wifi went down it would also, but there is very rarely an outage in my area. Very pleased for all the info I received.
