new fibre phoneline....any one had a call back yet?

our modem is not near our phone so the email said to fill in box with phone number and they would ring you to book an engineer.....well ive filled this box in 6 times now over past 2 weeks and still no call back to book a technician.

Has anyone actually been successful with this and booked an engineer?

Re: new fibre phoneline....any one had a call back yet?

Hi there @juliac

Thank you so much for your post and I am so sorry to hear this has happened!

With the new 21CV line you just plug the handset directly into the Hub, you shouldn't need to move your Hub at all. If you need a phone to be far away from the Hub, we would recommend a cordless phone, this way the base plugs into the Hub and you can take the phone where ever.

Does this help at all?

@juliac

Have you actually been moved over to the 21CV connection or are you waiting for it to be done?

You are following the correct procedure, as advised on this VM page, in trying to book a technician

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/home-phone/virginphone#whatishappening

which suggests you should be able to get existing extension sockets reconnected via a VM technician.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a very hit-and-miss process for some VM customers based on past topics posted on the forum. When the re-connection is made, it often seems to be done via some kind of 'adapter' lead (rather than a substantive, hard-wired connection). The adapter lead method has been mentioned on a recent topic as causing interference on the extension sockets

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Home-Phone/Noisy-Home-phone-internal-wiring-issue/td-p/4744223

so, if you get it done that way, make sure you are happy with the quality of the line/sound before signing off the work.

You shouldn't have to buy new cordless phones to use on the 21CV connection but, unfortunately, that might be the most satisfactory approach in the long term.

See if VM can get their act together and sort it for you, as they say they will do, before deciding whether to invest in cordless phones.
