loss of phone service southampton 13th January 2020

Phone was out most of the day. Virgin E-Mailed at 18:11 saying it was fixed but I still have no dialtone. Tried the self test and no fault found.

So "if you have a problem with your phone phone us" isn't very helpfu and there isn't a web "talk to an agent" facility which seems really essential.

I'll have to borrow somones mobile phone tomorrow and ring them I suppose 😞

Re: loss of phone service southampton 13th January 2020

Hi RattusMortus,

Sorry to hear about this and thank you for using the forums to get this issue looked into.

I've had a look at our fault checker using your details on the forum and can see the issue is still persisting but the priority has been raised and it should be fixed by 16:00 today. Please be aware this time may change due to the nature of faults, however an engineer is on their way and they will work hard to get it resolved as soon as possible.

Sorry for any inconvenience this problem has caused!

Re: loss of phone service southampton 13th January 2020

Thank you Megan. I've spoken to a few neighbours and it appears it's been ongoing for quite a few days now and the fault fix time just keeps moving forward a few hours every time the deadline is reached - their comments below

"I'm in SO18 and my Virgin landline hasn't worked for the past few days. Been meaning to contact virgin, but havent got around to that yet. I wasn't sure if my phone was broken. The symptom is that the phone sounds like it's already connected to a silent call which can't be cancelled, and anyone trying to dial in gets an "unavailable" message."

" SO19 it's still not working. They keep changing the 'fix' time. I think at present their service status says there are now two faults with an estimated 'fix' time of 02.30 14.1.20"

"They keep saying it's fixed when it's not this is ridiculous"

As of now 09:40 14/01 the status page shows 2 faults - one being fixed one the engineer on the way - both with a fix time of 16:00.

I'm not holding my breath 🙂

Re: loss of phone service southampton 13th January 2020

I know faults can be frustrating, I totally get it and I am sorry that the deadline keeps being pushed back. The fault is now a P2 which means it's high priority and the engineers will be working on it as we speak. I'm sorry that I can't do anything more to quicken the fix time.

Kind regards,

Megan_L
