my landline has not been working since wed, no dialing tone cant phone out or in crackling noise when you try, need to keep contact with 90 yr old mother very concerned

Thanks for coming back to me. How many pieces of equipment are plugged into the phone line please? It can be things like fax machines etc. Less than 3 or more?
Also have you tried unplugging the phone line and then re-plugging in?
just the phone ,tried unplugging it no different
