Can I ask whether you signed up via online or with a sales agent over the phone/in person?
Also, which provider did you have previously and is the account still active?
We can do a number port here on the forums for you, but as a rule the previous provider's account needs to still be open until the port has fully completed.

I signed up on behalf of my dad online using a link from a friend (VM employee).The link to the landline was not on. He is a BT customer and the account is still live. We want VM to inform BT to port the number then the account can be switched.

I'm glad the BT account is still active for the port to take place, I'm just sorry the number port link wasn't available at the time when you signed up!
The port can take between 10 - 14 days to fully process once we've done the paper work.
I'll send you a PM now so we can get the porting process underway.
