engineer visit

My landline is down, and an engineer has been booked by the Virgin robot for next Tuesday (ref 8686230).  I know the cause of the problem: the cable to our house was installed under our lawn, only a few inches deep,  and I have dug into it because I did not know it was there. Now I understand why our neighbour insisted on his  cable running in a green tube above ground.

My guess is that the engineer assigned will not be equipped to deal with this problem.
I am hoping that this posting will prompt an outside engineer to be assigned instead.
My strong preference would be the installation of a replacement cable running above ground.

Happily our broadband seems unaffected (phew).

Re: engineer visit

Hi hollisga,

Thanks for your post and for reaching out to the community forums. Sorry to hear that you are having landline issues and that your line is cut, I've attempted to set up an engineer visit but one has already been booked. You can view or reschedule this from your online account with this link

Cheers,

Corey C

Re: engineer visit

Corey,

Many thanks, but as I said in my first post I have already booked an engineer, which is presumably the one you found.

What I hoped to achieve by my post was to get the appointment fulfilled by the right sort of engineer.

Will the one who comes be able to effect a repair to a cut buried cable?

If not I will face another delay for the right engineer to turn up.

Re: engineer visit

Hi Hollisga,

Yes this would be allocated to the right engineer due to the fault logged. No Dial Tone: Line cut.

Cheers,

Corey C

Re: engineer visit

Ah - I see your fault testing software is pretty good.
It will be interesting to see how the engineer handles this.
Thanks again.

Re: engineer visit

No worries Hollisga,

It's all in the dispatch notes.
