crossed phone line?????

2 hours on the phone yesterday and ive had enough of being passed from person to person. My lastest bill was showing that i had made £15.75 of calls when we dont use the phone line. I checked the bill and shows that someone or something had made 42 calls all times of the day and night, all these call were only 1 second long. ive googled some of these numbers and one turns out to be a builders yard and shows that my phone called them at 03.47 in the morning. another number doesnt even exits.

Speaking to an engineer he told me that someone in my home is making these calls or i must have someone with a medical problem thats making the calls or perhaps it could be my ring door bell.

I have now cancelled my phone line and pulled it out the wall.

Absolutely disgusted with the attitude of customers services and so called engineer.

Hi @willowman15

Thanks for posting on our community forum

Sorry to hear about your issue, I understand your frustration but with these call charges they go through a 'three factor' check when being charged and added to the bill to verify / validate them so we aren't charging customers incorrectly or to the wrong property. The calls have to be made from your landline specifically to be added to the bill so all I can advise is for you to really be careful with what numbers are dialled from your landline in the future as previously advised by our agent(s)

So again someone else  is saying im making calls to numbers i dont know, at stupid hours of the morning for 1 second and i love to pay for them and waste my money.

Perhaps the engineer is right and it could be the ring door bell using the phone or it could be the fridge? we do have a dog and cat so i will be talking to them next.

Unbelievable.

Hi @willowman15

Thanks for your reply

I'm unsure of how the Ring doorbell would enable this to happen but I would suggest contacting the manufacturer if so as that shouldn't be happening whatsoever. I do understand your frustration but the call charges are correct.

Are u joking with me.? Are you serious?

How the hell does a ring door bell generate a number to ring someone for 1 second.

I cannot for 1 minute consider the concept of your answer. its not even connected to the phone line.

This just gives me more reason the leave Virgin media altogether when i get answers like this.

And they say this is a helpful community.

Hi @willowman15

Thanks for your reply

What I said was I can't understand how the Ring doorbell would cause this as this is what the engineer had told you. I am by no means saying the doorbell is causing this, infact quite the opposite. I understand your frustration willowman15 but after a quick look into the account the charges are certainly coming from the landline being dialled so in order to prevent these we would need you to be extra cautious with the usage.

Thanks for your reply but if you have looked on my account and seen the 42 calls ive supposedly made for 1 second, you just like the engineer are telling me ive made these calls to numbers I dont know, numbers ive dialled at stupid hours all for 1 second. There is me and my wife at home. Thats it apart from our dog and cat.

All im asking is for someone to look into this and explain why this is happening to my phone line.

I dont need someone to tell me it's from my phone line so i must have made them, when clearly I or my wife or cat or dog or any other  electrical  device has made it. Has no one every heard of a crossed line?. ive had this phone line for over 20 years and nothing has done this before, Why is nothing being done to help me?

Why to solve this have i had to now cancel my phone line and even unplugged it from the wall.

Freinds ,family and businesses will have to now phone our mobiles to contact us.

.RAnt over.

Offcom is next on my list and possible to BBC watchdog.

When you say you have looked at my account are you seeing the full picture.? are you seeing charges of £1.68 or the £15.75 which is now up to £36 cause the number i was told to phone 0345454111  and was on the phone for 2 hours has now charged me over £20 .
