I recently set up a new VirginMobile Account and ported my sons old number onto this account. As far as I could tell the porting of the number went fine. If I ring his number it calls his new phone, if I text his number it texts his new phone.
However, whenever he calls or rings anybody from his phone, it is showing a different number, I assume the number which was there before we ported the old one over.
This is a real concern as some of his friends are not recognising the number which his phone is giving out, so they are not responding. Surely if he texts or calls, it should show the number that we ported over, not some random number?
The way that iMessage works is that it doesn't automatically update the change of phone number dynamically, so to resolve this what you have to do is - 1) Logout of your Apple ID. 2) Turn off the phone and then back on. 3) Sign back into your Apple ID. This will force the change of phone number with iMessage and will resolve your problem. Regards Mike
