Worrying phone call

This afternoon I got a cal from a number starting 0004, after a short delay, it stated something along the lines of 'thank you for your e-bay...you've been charged 3' - at which point I hung up.

Has anyone else had experience of this?

Is there a need to be concerned about getting a large bill?

Re: Worrying phone call

Hi john_w6309,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. As they called you there shouldn't be any additional costs. They would have to state this on the call if that is the case.

To confirm was this on your landline or your Mobile?

Re: Worrying phone call

eBay account issues is a common scam, as are calls from Amazon.

The numbers are fake, & as long as you just hang up there is nothing they can take from you.

Re: Worrying phone call

Hi Martin_n

Thanks for the prompt reply - I hope I've pressed the correct button to reply.

It was a call to the landline.

Thanks

J
