Virgin phone number 0800 1234 1234 does not exist

Here in Stockport UK I had an email about switching our home landline to run through the Virgin Hub (part of the national fibre roll-out). After answering a few simple questions on the link provided, it decided I need a technician to install the gubbins. They provide 0800 1234 1234 to call to make an appointment. But the number does not exist! (you try it). Surely I am not the first to discover this?

Looks like a printing error. 0800 numbers can have up to seven digits. The quoted one has eight. That’s why it’s not working.

I wonder if this is a scam as there is a premium rate scam phone number out there with the similar number 0900 123 1234 (don't dial it).
