VM Voicemail

Hi

How do I turn off the voicemail that is linked to my landline? We have our own answer machine (so we can screen calls) so don't want the VM one as well.

Presumably nobody knows the answer to this question. It must be very difficult and complex. Perhaps it cannot now  be turned off when in the past it could?
