We're moving house and want to use the telephone number that is at the new house. That number has just been returned to the operator. How can we bring this about please?

Hello
If the number has been returned to the operator, then the number cannot be transferred as it isn't a live number, the only way to port the number across is with both number still being active. This is in line with the rules set by Ofcom, also was the number yours or another persons as you can only transfer phone numbers where the account holder is the same.

Thank you very much for this reply. I thought I had been told that nothing could be done until the number had been returned! How irritating if it's actually the opposite that's the case

Hi @Lis62,
Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first posts.
As mentioned by @DJ_Shadow1966, we would need your old landline to remain open and active so it can be ported. You can also find out more here https://www.virginmedia.com/help/mobile/keep-my-number
Please let us know if you need any further help.
Thanks,

Hi,
thank you for this. We don't want our old (current) number, we want to use the number that is at the house we are moving to

Thank you for clarifying this @Lis62.
Just to clarify, is the number you want also under your name as the account holder?
Thanks
