Using modem tel socket

I need to move the location of my landline phone in my home. I notice that my Virgin modem has two sockets labeled "Tel". Can I connect my phone to one of these? If so, what cable/adapter do I need and can Virgin provide?

Re: Using modem tel socket

this will not work if your phone is supplied over a normal phone line. Not sure if VM can switch you to a vip service if you ask

Re: Using modem tel socket

Hello

You will only be able to use the hub telephone socket if you are on the VOIP system, so currently do you have a normal phone socket that you plug into ?

If you go to http://192.168.0.1 and login in using the information from the bottom of the router, ince logged in you will get a page like the follwoing if it says Telephony (Disable) then you don't have the VOIP system so will not be able to use that socket.

Re: Using modem tel socket

Many thanks.  I'll have to stay on old phone tech then.

Re: Using modem tel socket

VM wants to move everyone off its PSTN, so should be amenable to a switch to VoIP. You would actually get this if you'd just moved into the house even though there is a phone socket.
