Upcoming Phone Switchover to Fibre

I've now been sent the adapter for the switchover that plugs into the Modem - thanks.

However, my phone is in a different room than the modem. Now, my home has ethernet cabling in most rooms, so are you able to supply me with the correct adapter that I'll need to fit the phone situated in my study?

As this is a change being pushed on me, I don't see why I should have to purchase any extra items to keep my phone working.

Thanks.

Re: Upcoming Phone Switchover to Fibre

If you need your hub wired to your master socket, this can be done free of charge via a manned conversion. That is providing you don't mind the trailling wire going through the house.

Ethernet connections will be no good with the phone service Virgin uses. The connection to the hub is RJ11 not RJ45 & the service is not internet based. The phone signal is carried seperately back to the headend exchange where the calls have always been dealt with.

Stage 2 of the switchover takes place in 2025, when along with BT & all other providers the existing PSTN exchanges will be switched off.

Re: Upcoming Phone Switchover to Fibre

Hello @Biffy,

Welcome back, thanks for posting.

I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

If you want and re wiring done, we would be able to send a tech out. But it would add a charge of £25 onto the account for the tech to come complete the job.

If you are okay with this let me know, then I can help.

Many thanks,

Hayley

Re: Upcoming Phone Switchover to Fibre

Thanks for your replies.

No thanks Hayley_S, I'm not spending more money for a home phone that I rarely use, in fact I'd be quite happy to get rid of it, but I'm basically forced to have it in order that I can get a good monthly deal from you, I really want less services for less money.

Re: Upcoming Phone Switchover to Fibre

Hi @Biffy

Thank you for your reply

We would expect you to move the handset closer to the Hub if needs be, this can always be connected elsewhere via hands free handsets. We supply the adapter but the charge would be liable to complete the rewire.
