Telephone only rings once

Hi all,

Our landline was working fine until recently but now when someone call it the telephone will only ring once then the message "Incoming call" briefly appears on the handset before disappearing. If the caller doesn't hang up straight away then after about 20ish seconds the telephone rings once again followed by the brief "incoming call" message on the handset then nothing.

It is a BT telephone and we have tried unplugging it, resetting the base and the handset but nothing helps. 

We don't know what is wrong with it. While we were away I think there were some power cuts but I can't think of what else could have caused this problem.

It is a very annoying problem as it is now very easy to miss any important call.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome, sorry to hear you are facing issues with your Telephone recently.

Have you tried unplugging everything from the Telephone socket including any extensions or filters and try plugging the phone straight into the socket, if this still fails try a different stand alone phone.

You can also try running further diagnostics Via your Online Account.

Hi Paul,

We have tried unplugging from the Telephone socket but there are no extensions or filters attached to the Telephone socket. We tried plugging in a different phone but that had the same problem.

I tried to click on the link which you say I could find more help but I got a "HTTP Status 400 - Bad Request" error message.

Is there any thing else you could suggest?

Thanks for checking and for this reply Peter, we're sorry to hear you've tested this but your landline is still having issues.
