Telephone number has not transferred

I recently became a Virgin Media customer and completed my quick start installation of my services. However, my telephone line seems to be activated with another telephone number. I had asked for number to be transferred from my previous supplier BT. My contract with BT will cancel in the next 7 days and I am worried that I am going to lose my old number.
