Just had a call from so called Indian Contact Centre saying my Broadband is fluctuating and needs testing. Suspicious as nobody has my phone number, I dont use it but have phone for emergencies. I ended up putting the phone down. God knows what they obtain ? Is it money? 01603473844 is the number on callback. How the hell do they get your number? Anybody else please?

You correctly identified this as a scam call and did the right thing in hanging up. The 'broken router' scam is very common and is regularly mentioned here. VM would not ring you up out of the blue in that way to 'fix' a 'problem' with your router.
The calls are generated automatically, working through particular sequences of numbers so they haven't 'got' your personal number specifically.
The scammers' aim is to convince you that you have a problem with your broadband/computer. They then offer to fix the imaginary problem for you by remotely connecting to your computer and taking control of it. From there, the scammers aim to get access to online banking and/or personal information with a view to stealing from both.
A call screening device, or a phone with those screening features, can stop the scam calls coming through to your phone. Alternatively, just hang up when you get these calls or let them go to answering machine.
