When my Hub3 was installed, apparently the signal was too high and 2x 4db FPE's were installed. Today I moved the Hub to the other side of the room by adding a coupler and 5m cable, which is CT100, not the triple shield stuff Virgin use. After 30-60mins I was still not getting signal, so I removed one FPE at first with no change after 30mins and then the second was removed, almost immediately I had signal. Would this cable difference and 5m extension have affected the signal that much??

Short answer. No.
Long answer- its not the cable length thats likely the issue, its the spec of the cable. And what you CANT measure is noise ingress to the network from your changes which will affect you and anyone else on the same segment.
